So. Ming is still bombarding North America with the stupid ray. And Amercians are out sun bathing in it. I give up. It was a nice country while it lasted. (Loved the consitution!) Thanks, John, Ben, Adam, George and all the rest. For two hundred years the blood you spilled, the friends you lost were not in vain. But don't look down at us now, for your own sake. Taking the Lords name in vain is probably not looked upon kindly where you are.

Isn't some network supposed to put out a made for TV movie about Y2K soon? Something about a heroic programmer who will stop Y2K from zapping us all. Here's what I think. The hero of this flick will find out, just before the last commercial break, that the cause of all the problems will be terrorists. And they'll be home grown terrorists at that. And guess what, why did those terroists have all those supplies if they weren't planning on hacking the infrastructure. They MUST be terrorists. That's my prediction.

Putting up false headlines like this wastes everybody's time.

Where is the falsehood?

eyes open

I share your frustration. It was nice (democracy) while it lasted. It is also in big trouble now anyway - with or without Y2k.

The best thing about Y2k will be the extinguishing of the Idiot Box. I am NOT going to miss that incessant electro-spin-box-o-babble one bit.

I'm gonna get tinfoil thrown at me, but I don't give a rats ass.

The peep's in controll know the most LIKELY scenario for next Jan. That being said, keep in mind that a preemptive deployment of "emergency managers" is ALWAYS easier that expostfacto. Soooo...We either will have a "terrorist" attack or other countrywide disaster to facilitate theese plans, OR not. If this(terrorist act) doesn't happen by mid Dec. then the Gov. must be pretty damn sure that y2k will be not much(here anyway).

Then again they could just be crossing their fingers like the rest of us.

Rambo -

Read the headline. Two sentences. Both false.

I appreciate the point that eyes_open is making, but am personally bored to tears over hearing about the public's apathy. I am interested in the Navy report and what the stock market is doing.

Y2K Gardener,

I think the point is that the Navy report WAS authenticated by Koskinen (not guaranteed ACCURATE because nobody know what will happen) but that yes it was prepared seriously by the Navy. And the stock market has been going up today. I suspect the headline was meant in an "incredulous" spirit. At least that's how I took it.

The Navy report was authenticated as an actal Navy report.

As of 3:35pm EST, DOW is up almost 100.

YOU are the one spreading disinformation Y2KGardner.

BTW eyes, TBS is showing a made for TV flic called First Daughter this sunday about a militia group that tries to take over the country by kidnapping the President's daughter. The best thing I can say about it is Mauriel Hemingway is a lot better looking than Chelsea.

Gardener

Yes, the subject relflects reality, but I see where you feel you were decieved. Sorry, next time I'll try to be more clear.

Kristi

Yup. That's what I meant.

a

Thanks for the info. It's probably not nice to pick on Chelsea. After all, what has she ever done to us? She's just a kid. And she has to grow up with those two bozos for parents. I pity her. The best thing that ever happened to the image of the militas was the FBI infiltrated every one of them. They got to see first hand who the New Establishment was tarring.

But my main point was something beyond decrying all the apathy. In order for our government to function For The Benefit Of The People, the people have to stay involved and pay attention. Have to. This democratic republic is over.

'course, I'm still not giving up.

Chin up and keep your...

Prehaps we should look to Albert Einstein, who reportedly said

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."
