Since the Navy story broke I haven't seen a word, not a dicky bird, from duplicitous ddecker, scoffy hoffy, y2k pro, flint, maria et all - come out come out wherever you are :)

Mr. Decker is currently indisposed, busily mattocking his way to the top of his battlement, there to do combat for Truth, Justice, and The American Way.

-- Spidey (in@jam.commie), August 20, 1999.

Interesting, isn't it? Not a single word on any of these 40 or so threads about this. And, considering the "opportunities" this subject would seem to present, things are amazingly quiet over at DeBunker.

Andy, another thought, maybe their ASSIGNMENTS have been completed !!!

Hey All:

Maybe they're waiting for instructions from Blumenthal or Car-vile on how to attack the study on this forum. :)

-- cynic (cynic@skeptic.com), August 20, 1999.

That's cause were all laughing ourselves silly at the frothy state you Tinfoils have gotten yourselves in - all pounding your little puds at the thought this document justifies your end of the world fantasies.

-- Y2K Pro (y2kpro1@hotmail.com), August 20, 1999.

Ddecker, scoffy hoffy, y2k pro, flint and maria et al., are all down at Costco and Sam's club stocking up. I even saw Flint hit Maria over the head with a sack of rice. Maria clawed him with her long fingernails, and it appears as though Maria got the bag of rice. Wow! Let's get ready to RUUUUUMMMMBLE!!!!

-- ~~~~~ (~~~~@~~~.com), August 20, 1999.

Where's The Beef?

I see Y2K Pro finally showed up, but not with much. He, like Koskinen, may be giving us his true feelings here, although in a convoluted sort of way. Notice how he immediately brings up the "end of the world" business. This is probably what is truly nagging at the subconscience of the pollys. They know this was a genuine document, and like the Naval War College papers, not very optimistic. Paula Gordon, in her 4th installment, touches on this psychological reaction/danger for those who have waited/denied up till the last minute.

shhhhh, you guys may wake up the sheeple with all this navy report stuff. They don't want to hear it anyway. Yea, they should hear it, but if they don't get it now, they never will. "Honey, the toilet won't flush", "don't worry, the White House said its just a bump in the pipe."

Jim Lord's message was clear, keep preparing. Now go about your preps quietly before everything is gone. I, for one, am not done, still need 4 or 5 cords of firewood and a way to cook outdoors. Am getting closer but don't want to fight the herd yet.

Besides the sheeple will be grouchy when they wake up. Go back to sleep, nice sheeple, who's playing Monday Night? (Sneaking off to Sam's Club, will be back soon)

Some of the best comedy in years!!!!! You guys are really on to something now aren't ya!!

You are right, Andy, only the low echelon polly trolls -- Y2K Pro and Deano -- are frothing. The "Big Brains" seem to be out to lunch.

They will probably just wait until the Navy report gets what little mainstream press attention it is going to receive, then start posting here as if nothing had happened. When asked about the report, of course, it will be the ususal flak. (Hoffy: "PROVE that the Navy is not overly cautious! PROVE that the report was not on that web site! PROVE that it was not removed for no good reason!" Maria: "You doomers are always pointing out the bad news. There is plenty of good news. Happy news! Sunshine news!! So don't give me any crap, you mother-#%#^##&#*#*#*#*# damn &#^#^# face piece of doomer #%#%%#%%#. And you can kiss my ##^##^#, 'a'!" Decker: "[crapola] free market forces [crapola] invisible hand of Adam Smith [crapola] my Grandfather used to say [crapola] [latin crapola]" Flint: "The Navy report is actually GOOD NEWS! If you look at the percentage [yada-yada-yada-ad-infinitum]")

-- zoobie (zoobiezoob@yahoo.com), August 20, 1999.

Ahhh:

The wannabe Y2kPro showed up san facts as usual. What are you basing your humor on pro? Please enlighten us with your 'infinite know-nothing' knowledge. Having challenged you before to provide facts, (and being disappointed at your failure to do so) I'm not holding my breath on this one. LOL

-- cynic (cynic@skeptic.com), August 20, 1999.

Deano:

Then explain the comments on the 'false' (in your world only) Navy Y2K assessment. Several national media including the Washington Post have commented on it. Is it proof that Y2K will cause massive problems? Certainly not. But the document is authentic. Unless you have information that Koskinen and The Washington Post do not have.

Everyone: a BIG CHEER for Deano: DUH!!!!

-- cynic (cynic@skeptic.com), August 20, 1999.

Deano fiddles while Rome burns. Nothing new there. Classic shunning of reality.

But, Y2K Pro is another matter. He has been *so* full of debunking theories for so long now. Yet, when something "officially negative" hits the news, how does he respond? He tells us in his own backward way that he is thinking now about tinfoil hats, pounding his pud, and dreaming of the end of the world, all while giggling to himself. Yes I know, he tries to say that is what *we* are, but it's the first thing off his lips, at the top of his conscience. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's got *him* aggitated to the point he can only mutter about it all.

-- Gordon (gpconnolly@aol.com), August 20, 1999.

Gordon:

Agreed. I'm certainly willing to listen to other viewpoints that are based in fact. Opinions are just that. Nothing of value except to the person that holds the opinion. Wannabe Y2k Pro's consistent failure to provide facts speaks for itself. As you will probably agree, anyone whose opinion is backed only by sarcasm has nothing of value to provide to a discussion. In verbal duels, such people are unarmed. Without facts, their opinion doesn't count for dog**it. Neither does mine, as far as that goes. Go ahead and laugh at us Pro, after looking at your vacuous, non-factual posts, we certainly are laughing at you. Mexican Standoff, eh?

Regards

Yall never cease to amaze me. Some of the self-proclaimed biggest brains in the world. A group of mensa rejects and you have exactly .07 ounces of common sense between ya.

Bad news is gospel and good news is spin. Without a doubt, the most predictable bunch of loonies on the planet. Yall must be proud!!

a - I'm merely stating that you guys spend more time here than anywhere else. I'd bet a weeks pay on that.

I'd also be a paycheck that most of the regular posters on here couldn't stay away (voluntarily) for a week. Because of the comic-relief I get from coming here that would even be tough for me.

I'm feelin' a lot of love here..........

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), August 20, 1999.

Beano,

For the benefit of the forum participants could you plese let us know which companies use YOUR remediate software. I for one will then immediately transfer my mortgage to that company.

Where were you folks yesterday when all the important data was being discussed?? Hiding under a rock I suppose!!

your Pal, Ray

-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), August 20, 1999.

Deano:

And where are facts to support your opinion? Oh...I see...you have no facts so you have to use cynicism. Ahhh yes....your thoughts must be "...wow! I have no facts so I'll call them names...". Sorry Deano. That method isn't exactly new...and it is used all the time by not-so-brilliant, predictable simpletons like yourself. But we all recognize your nonsensical postings for what they are....the opinions of someone who can't bring FACTS to the discussion! Disprove the Navy study. I for one am willing to listen. I'm looking for a reason to be more optimistic. By the way Deano, curious you didn't comment on the fact that the study was acknowledged by Kosky. Time to sidestep and change the subject, eh? Feel free to call me names, though. It's proof positive that you have nothing factual to offer the discussion.

I Lub You Man!!!

-- cynic (cynic@skeptic.com), August 20, 1999.

Deano -

So has "The Goddess" seen the Navy report? I know she's busy checking faces and taking names ("Whaddya mean you're slipping schedule? You or YOUR REPLACEMENT will hit that deadline, mister!"), but it's certainly a useful document.

You want I should send it to her?

-- Mac (sneak@lurk.hid), August 20, 1999.

Ray

Now you know a shill like me can't divulge information like that. Besides, I have a hard time believing you actually hold a mortgage.

Namecalling?? I believe the title of the thread speaks for itself. I was only following suit like a good sheeple.

Disprove the Navy report? I wish I could.........

Mac

Has BB seen it?? I have no idea. We haven't discussed it.

I will say that when big business (or big organizations such as the Navy) have to prepare for possible disruptions, they ALWAYS plan for the worst case scenario no matter how remote the possibility is.

I have a feeling that is all there is to this document.

Now the big brains may take a stab at correcting me, poking fun at me, or any of those other qualities you're full of......

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), August 20, 1999.

Actually, Your Highness, you come close.

Truly, though, only here can waiting until actual information is available, as opposed to rampant speculation, be seen as somehow bad.

As for the actual document, I still have no real opinion. There is far too little information on how the "assessment" was done, what information was used, etc.

Some aspects of the hype of this are truly funny, though. Jim Lord's whole "X-Files" thing for example:

As a precaution, I have registered my Internet domain name-JimLord.to--in Tonga, an island nation in the South Pacific. I have also hidden away several copies of the Navy Department documentation and my Internet files in safe keep-ing in several states. Friends are standing by to keep this information in the public eye. Just in case.

Hilarious. The "Tonga" domain is administered from here:

http://www.tonic.to/

Basically, you can immediately create a domain, via the website. But it all looks so mysterious. Remote South Sea islands. Out of reach of the "government". Copies stashed with "friends".

If I were a gambling man, I'd call my bookie with these odds:

Probabability that Doomers will still have their narrow-minded little heads stuck up their asses on Jan. 1, 2001, still hoping for the not-arrived-yet Doom event: 100%

-- RUOK (RUOK@yesiam.com), August 20, 1999.

Welcome back Hoffmeister, I see you have received your marching orders. Could you explain why you were ALL AWOL yesterday??

Many thanks in advance.

Your Pal, Ray

-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), August 20, 1999.

Well, Ray, my "cover" story is I was at a client site yesterday afternoon, then had to catch a flight home. Made it in time to take my son to football practice last night, and other, umm, activities kinda filled the rest of the night.

The real story, as you so rightly deduced, was it took Koshky awhile to contact everyone with their "assignments". Truly amazing the insight you have, Ray.

-- Hoffmeister (hoff_meister@my-deja.com), August 20, 1999.

Virginia Natural Gas has a probable partial failure status.

Anybody know what percentage of Virginia's power plants are gas-fired?

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), August 20, 1999.

Of course we should place blind faith in the Navy's predictions. After all, they had that Pearl Harbor thing spotted way ahead of time. Oh, wait a minute ...

-- cd (artful@dodger.com), August 20, 1999.

Oh, CD, did you ever set yourself up.

Lotsa evidence our CINC was warned of the catastrophe but suppressed the data in order to grease the country into accepting war.

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), August 20, 1999.

Yup Lisa,

The yew ess of a certainly knew beforehand, as did the brits, but "an event" was needed to draw America into the war.

Hmmm CD, bluff, double-bluff and treble-bluff.......

Hoffmeister commented:

"The real story, as you so rightly deduced, was it took Koshky awhile to contact everyone with their "assignments". Truly amazing the insight you have, Ray. "

Thank you Hoff, it does take MUCHO co-ordination when your trying to COVER UP the TRUTH. LYING does not come easy, it takes plenty of hard work!!

Good luck to your son's team.

My response from another thread:

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001GgI

I haven't posted here in a long time, but feel compelled to do so today. Many of you know me as a "polly" and think I'm just a troll, which is one of the reasons I don't post here anymore. Another reason is that this place is full of looney tunes.

Most people posting here are not involved in fixing Y2K or you would know that Steve Davis is one of the most respected experts in the field of Y2K risk management. His explanation and John Koskinen's response are reasonable and plausible to anyone who is actually managing a Y2K project.

Many of the responses here are just further proof that TB2000 is just a rumor mill. I, for one, will take Steve Davis's opinion over the combined opinion of this entire bulletin board ("pollys" excepted) any day.

This just may be the doomers' last hurrah so enjoy it while you can.

Lisa,

That was good, really, really good. And so fast, too! I'm impressed. Bet ole CD is sitting there going, "Duhhhh, Duhhhh, what are you talking about?" Cause he sure didn't know what *he* was talking about. But hey, nothing new there, right? ;-)

-- Gordon (gpconnolly@aol.com), August 20, 1999.

This may be the "doomers last hurrah?" Gee Buddy...I must have pulled a Rumplestiltskin! Is it 2001 already?

-- a (a@a.a), August 20, 1999.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out...

Buddy, you SHOULD post more often, we could all do with the laughs you provide.

Plausible my ass!

LOL! You guys are always quick with the one-liners.

If you're interested in the middle ground in Y2K, the best place to start is Steve Davis.

Oh, and by the way...

If you live within five miles of a 7-11, the coffee is free on New Year's Eve.

-- Buddy (buddydc@go.com), August 20, 1999.

Jimmy!

Glad to see I'm getting under your polly-ass skin, that means I'm doing something right. And I'm also glad that you see fit to read what I've got to say, that means subconciously my doomer meme-speak is sinking in and corrupting you.

How's the medication working?

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), August 20, 1999.

Deano:

It appears that we have a Mexican standoff, no? Your feelings are all you can rely on at this point, with regard to the document. Until more background is learned about the Navy document, that is what most of us have at this point. Personally, I hope you're right about it. I don't think that anyone normal wants to live out what the Navy hypothesized MIGHT happen. I certainly do not. But I am gonna have a little set aside, just in case.

Regards

Jimmy,

When you post something to Andy, I think you have him confused with someone who gives a shit! About what you think, I mean.
