Would someone please remind me why these posts are deemed neccesary?

I take the train in NYC often and they are delayed anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours every day. Our phone service experiences some kind of problem once a week. Our lighting company gets a power dip or spike almost daily and a total loss in a large area at least once a week. But this has been going on for more than 10 years.

Why do we have to have these posts? People are getting so antsy that any kind of problem must be y2k.

You'd better hope it IS Y2K related binky!!!!!

cause if it's not, that just means the problems that EVERYONE has acknowledged will occur due to y2k, and due to y2k testing, will be ON TOP OF these problems.

so you'd better hope it IS y2k related.....

Binky,

Here is the answer to your question--"why these posts".

Ok-- supposedly a percentage of failures will occur in 1999 and another percentage will occur in the months preceding 2000 (gartner group). Due to the suspected spinning of info. on y2k related remediation and compliance, its hard to tell what is and what isnt. (faa 40% up delays, MCI frame relay etc.) If the posts start developing a critical mass above and beyond the normal frequency, I for one will use that critical mass as part of my contingency plans.

Hey Binky...I know this may be hard for you to understand, but New York City,.. those that live, work and commute there... are NOT THE NORM. The rest of us out here in the wild west (of the Hudson) do not have all these electrical problems. We go months without any hitches and until y2k came along, we didn't even think about electricity until the end of the month and we got a bill. So don't go judging the rest of the world by NYC because its YOU(or is that youse guys) that are out of step. Do you know where eggs and milk come from Binky? Ever dug up ....or even eaten a turnip? Planted a seed, milked a goat, killed and gutted your dinner? Hang around...you will. You have LOTS to learn about surviving. I hope you have a bug out plan and are well away from that place when the ball falls. If you are lucky, you have a Kountry Kuzzin where you can go stay.
