Is This Server Busier Than Ever Before? Seems like it to me.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Server Busy messages are, according to my perception, at an all time high. Even worse than late January. And this is despite the relative absence of schills. What gives.

We notice it too, Puddintame, and in the middle of vacation Dog Days of August. You don't suppose the Spin left a few cracks of light shining thru Katy Bar The Door?

Heavy use by incoming faculty and students at MIT? Or does TB2K have a set amount of "slots"?

OG, I don't know if this server provides other functions in addition to its hosting of LUSENET forums, but as far as forums on this server go, I believe this one dominates in terms of volume.

I'm with you Puddin'

I thought it was my old computer finally goin' lame, but it takes forever to pull up threads or post answers. There's so much new stuff on here, that folks can't read every new thread, so then we get duplicates of many items.

And today, someone decides to recall a dozen or so threads from six months ago, with no real commentary. They are interesting, but that's what archives are for, after all. And now Al-d is back, as well (I'm thrilled). I think, like it or not, the Sysop is going to have take a hand to curtail those who blatently post only to disrupt or inhibit the forum.

Why, there's even a thread by some old fool spouting poetry, and celebrating his 50th birthday, for cryin' out loud!!! Just what has that got to do with the price of rice in Peoria?

(Huh, oh) On second thought, forget that last one. Uh, maybe just forget it all, OK? I'm much better at being quiet, which I'll do now.
