flint has always been an ass and will always be an ass.

"We have broken the baqck of Y2K" - de jager

"Y2k is now irrelevant" - flint

What more could one expect from the deeply self-decieved minds of consumate asses?

Flint,

Did you really says that! About your many friends here on this forum? Flint, who is washing *your* brain? You do wash it from time to time don't you? And I can't imagine you let someone else do it for you. What do you use to get all those useless old files and bits out of the nooks and crannys? Laxness or laziness in the brain hygiene dept will leave you with an assortment of conflicting logic, you know that.

Simply put, what is truly irrelevent is the DRIVEL that Flint continues to pour forth in voluninous amounts. It doesn't take long for folks to figure out what he is up to!!

This is really a joke right?

"Y2K Success Stories will be available soon".

Last year, Capers Jones (I believe on the ITAA) site said: "Best case scenario for the USA is 85% of systems fixed." To date, I see nothing that contradicts this statment. If anything it appears the USA will be somewhat less than 80% complete, especially if you factor in all systems not jus the self identifed "mission critical" ones (not quite a Best Case scenario).

For me the real question is - what will be the effect of a 20% failure rate in the USA? a 25% failure rate in western Europe and a 40% or worse failure rate in Russia, China and Latin America?

Hey, where's Andy?

Found the link to Capers Jones statement: Best Case is 85%

Also the GSA site has a bunch of new info since I last checked it see also:GSA Sitemap

Although written in July 1998 it is worth rereading: Internationa; Ramifications of Y2K

Note some of the statements "sometime in next 18 months"... Why do you suppose we are not seeing more of this type of reasoning to date? I can only think of two reasons:

a. This reasoning is wrong and the bulk of Y2K is fixed. b. The powers that be acted to avert a panic because, whatever Y2K turns out to be, Y2K with Panic in 1999 is to be avoided at all costs even spinning the truth.
