Why is it that every thread on the debunking y2k forum is in the form of an insult, belittlement, sarcasm, or "if you think y2k is serious you're stupid"?

Why is it that every thread on the debunking y2k forum is in the form of an insult, belittlement, sarcasm, or "if you think y2k is serious you're stupid"? I thought the purpose of that forum was to calm people down and show them the proof that y2k is being taken care of? Why is 95% of the forum some guy named cpr ranting about how stupid folks like Ed Yourdon are? Are they paranoid about something over there?

I read one of the posts there, after a link had been posted here. (Yesterday?) It was as close to gibberish as it could get and still be somewhat intelligible.

Careful Gentlemen, you are ASKING this one to spiral down to delete status.....

Please delete this thread

I don't see why it should be deleted. I'd like to know the answer myself.

I think that the question is worded to start a conflict. One would think that the poster could confront the forum in question his/her self. Here is the link.

  Debunking Y2k webboard

Now a more relevant question would be "why such a significant interest in this forum from the debunking crew?"

But thats another thread.

Hello Mr. Davis. Would you please post a link to the forum you maintain, Gary North is a Big Fat Idiot Forum? I'm sure everybody would like to see the informative and balanced posts at your forum.

-- Troll- (watching@the.bridge), August 05, 1999.

This makes the second time in as many days that someone has posted a "baiting" thread, trying to get "some action" going with the Bonkers crowd (the other was entitled "Why is CPR following me?" or something like that).

Look, its hard enough trying to stay focused on Y2K issues yet at the same time have to put up with the antics of Paul Davis, Deano, Maria, and -- of course -- Mister Decker. Yes, we have had a lot of laughs at their "meme" outlook (I know I sure have gotten a lot of mileage out of it!), but PLEASE, lets not roll out a red carpet for them.

SIGH - answer a question and if somebody doesn't want to feed you a king snake, they want to mud wrestle.

BFI is at http://206.28.81.29/HyperNews/get/gn.html

however you seem to be laboring under a bit of a misapprehension. I helped in the move to its current home, and even provided the OS software, but I am not the sysop. Matter of fact, as both the local people who have passwords to the forum are too busy to moderate it, due to a pickup in business, what little is being done is being done remotely by Idiot Debunker. It is darn near unmoderated right now.

Oh, OK, thanks Paulyanna, we were under the misapprehension that besides setting up the whole she-meme-bang (and were you the "brains" that thought up that intellectual sounding just-the-cold-Y2K-facts name "Gary North is a Big Fat Idiot?), and in addition to supplying the software that it exists on, that you were somehow "involved" at that Bonkers site. Sorry, I guess that is how rumors get started, huh? (You know, like the one about you being a rabid mad-dog crazy meme-sprouter OVER THERE, but a nice mild mannered intellectual sounding gentleman OVER HERE. [Pssst ... OutingsR, anything that you'd like to share on this?...])

Paul You know that the optimists should have a real forum with a real name and a real agenda. It pains me that there are rip offs and disinformation yet BFI and Debunkers are not suitable for y2k unaware to go to. (Not saying that this forum is perfect but....) There is a purpose that could be helpfull in your cause yet I don't feel the methods you folk use are effective. One of the things that REALLY PISSES me off are sites that expect money for information that is on the web. I am not going to name names and this thread is not for that. But that is one of the reasons that I started the Prep Archive so there was a body of information that folks could look through to make their own choices and that is what it should be about. People making their own judgements based on the information that they read. Unfortunately both sites mentioned above provide information in a haphazard way. There is little formal structure. You are defeating your own cause in this manner. If you set up a forum (say on this site) and have the information categorized in a clear and thoughtful manner then your cause will be legit. You have the ability and polite manner to do this. Now for a little story. I taught myself HTML and created the Prep Archive during a weekend. No brainer. I am actually an artist. Why can't you smart tech folk match me? Paul why don't you Flint, Hoff, Maria, Anita figure out something a little more intelligent. I am sure that you have seen my little archive but I will post it again. And notice if you will that most of the posted contained are civil, informitive, sometimes funny, sometimes sad but most touch someone in someway. That is a thing of beauty created from the minds of many people. Think about it.

i just went to BFI for the 1st time....what a waste! only bashing people (~90% of the time) instead of actually talking about what's at stake and showing anything real to be optimistic about.
