Estoppel & legal rights to sell prior to repossion

Does anyone know the phrase estoppel and what it means.I am curently engaged in litigation with Paragon and want to sell the property myself to gain the best price .I believe someone fought the Halifax and won the right to sell,does anyone know the case no and details.also what is the best method to approach this.

The case you are referring to is Barrett v Halifax Building Society - a high court case in 1995. Since then there have been two pieces of conflicting caselaw: Cheltenham & Gloucester plc v Krausz (1996 Court of Appeal) and Polonski v Lloyds Bank plc (1997 High Court case).
