Does being a GI mean more weapons or ammo at your home?

does being a poly mean you must imitate al driscol's posting style?

Drip, drip, drip. Still at it with the Chinese water torture. Don't respond to this fool.

what is andy, are you so insecure that you're threatened by nutbags buying a few sacks of rice and beans?Or is it a blow to a fragile ego that people disagree with you that y2k is something that threatens your safe homogenous little yuppie world?or do you simply suck?

-- zoobie (zoobiezoob@yahoo.com), July 25, 1999.

Does being named Andy Ray == small wee wee size?

When the sunspots fry this planet it will be the POLYS' fault. Isn't that right Zoobie!!!!!!

my tinfoil hat will protect me from any space-alien induced sun-spots

-- zoobie (zoobiezoob@yahoo.com), July 25, 1999.

Beware, the POLYS are trying to switch your tin-foil hats with worthless imitations.

-- No More POLYS (mean@people.GNIABFI), July 25, 1999.

I was interested to see that the most recent issue of half a dozen gun magazines prominently featured y2k at the top of the cover -- best guns, best tactics. etc. So certainly an effort is being made to increase gun *sales* by using y2k as leverage. How successful this effort is, I couldn't say.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), July 25, 1999.

Hey Andy, You suck. When TSHTF and you come looking for food, there'll be lots of "doomers" who will be sitting at home bunkered up waiting for fools like yourself to pay a visit.

If you're so cocksure about Y2K and how safe it will be then why not prove it and publicly move to LA to a border neighborhood? You know one of those places that's nice, but close to the shit.

I dare ya. I think you're a chicken. A complete weasel. You have no spine. You derive pleasure from fucking with people. You worthless piece of loser shit. Hope I don't see ya in the new year.

-- Ben Dover (one@for_you_too.com), July 25, 1999.

Yes it does. It means being willing to help law enforcement in any way that they need me to. If that means organizing a neighborhood patrol, then so be it. It means watching out for my family and people who can't defend themselves. It's a meanass world out there Andy, but of course you wouldn't know anything about that 'cause your a keyboard cowboy. Pretty fucking brave from behind your safe little veil of anonymity aren't ya?

If the shit hits the fan, I plan to use my weapons to help our country re-stabilize not destabilize, as do the majority of responsible gun owners in this land.

I've seen guys like you a hundred times. When push comes to shove and violence erupts things change. You start to really think about what could happen as its happening and things are kinda fuzzy. During those moments, you realize your mortality as you try to defend it. One thing's for sure though, when your in the shit, you want to be able to count on the guy next to you. If you can't then he's dead and so are you. So I'm pretty sure you'll be spending any shit time all alone after this new years, 'cause no one's gonna wanna stand next to a little pussy like you.

Yeah, Andy put your money where your mouth is. I bet you won't be flying on the space shuttle during the century rollover - you chicken. I bet you won't strap yourself to the hood of a moving semitruck during the century rollover - you yella bellied weasel. I bet you won't jump off the Golden Gate Bridge at midnite Dec. 31st - you spineless jellyfish. :-)

Since I re-located to the country, I have indeed added more firearms, including a 30-06 hunting rifle and a .308 assault rifle. It just makes sense, given my new location and acrage. I have also been stocking up on ammo for all my guns, as this is an item that could be in short supply, as well as useful for bartering purposes. And its one that you definitely don't want to run out of.

Now, I have a question for you: Instead of all of these similar threads that you have started, why not try to consolidate questions that clearly have a common theme into a single thread? Call it, "What Separates a GI from an DGI?" or something like that. That would be much appreciated by everyone, and your questions (which I actually think are not bad ones to ask) would be taken a lot more seriously, with the result that you would get more meaningful answers. (Assuming that you really are interested in good answers, not just trying to stir up everyone. We certainly have enough of those....)

-- Jack (jsprat@eld.net), July 25, 1999.

Flint,I read those gun magazines. Most assume you already have plenty of long guns and short guns, they talk more about adding guns to an assumed COLLECTION.Most readers of said 'zines don't fit the stereotype of internet/computer geeks. Most y2k articles in gun mags are baisic intro type articles. You must be assuming they use y2k as a ploy to make people by guns,or you're reading different gun 'zines.Or you know the truth and are using it as rhetoric. Flint, are you married? What a wonderful person he/she must be to share their life with you!!

Guys, what's up? Andy is just asking a question. Or am I missing something here?

-- Retroman (retro50@agapeis.net), July 25, 1999.

Andy Ray,

About your recent posts:

Does GI == increased weapon/ammo ownership?

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=0018UF

Does GI (or Doomer) == Conservative?

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=00186Z

Does Doomer == Anti-Government?

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=0017z8

It appears that you may be collecting information for a book or article, and (among other indicators) your use of the word "doomer" , leads me to believe that it won't be flattering to those who choose to prepare for Y2K. Why might this be? What are your initial assumptions? Do you assume "doomers" are at the fringe of society? Or that people who prepare (insert degree) are "doomers"? What is your premise?

Another alternative explanation for your questions might be that you are merely "trolling"; that is, attempting to spark responses in an effort to promote debate.

Or perhaps you are simply attempting to provoke: that is, to punch a few buttons for the pleasure of garnering heated responses.

Whatever your motivation, your questions actually demonstrate a gross oversimplification of most positions put forward at this forum.

If I were your thesis advisor, I would say:

Go back and do your homework first. Your questions reveal your bias. Ask some truly intelligent and thoughtful questions. Perhaps then your thesis might be worth something when the real answers may become known.

No, but my GI housemate is a cop. Does this count?
-- Sysman (y2kboard@yahoo.com), July 26, 1999.

No, GI = increased self-reliance.

-- Ontoyou (Ontoyou@transparent.tactics), July 29, 1999.

Heaven forbid!! Those evil nasty guns are nowhere in our house. We have the 3 days of preps. that the Red Cross says to have. We expect the govt. to provide water and shelter if something really bad happens. This gun stuff has no place in the 21st century young man and we hope you can convince people of the error of their ways. We GI and think all this doom stuff is just scare talk. Why we even told the police about that nice Mr. Adams next door. He was unloading a van full of food and suspicious boxs. He might be one of them gun nuts you see on TV.

So no there are no guns here, no hoards of food, just us and our two little dogs. We believe the govt. won't let the doom people hurt us.

-- (oldperson@hotmail.com), July 29, 1999.

oldperson,

You really sound like a troll, but in case you're not, do yourself a favor, GET MORE!

The gov has their own Y2K problems, and if things do get bad, they are going to be swamped!

I wish I could tell you how much more, but I don't know. Just remember the basics, heat, water and food. At least start there. Pick up an extra can or two of stuff when you go to the store. Put away some soda or other liquids that will keep for a while.

Visit our prep forum.

Old folks are one of my biggest worries. I know it's not easy living on a fixed income, but it doesn't cost much to cover the basics. Get stuff that you can use next year, if "nothing" happens.

Just think about it. Please <:)=

Sysman.. ahh dude...you juz bin had...tink humor maybe......

-- (cujo@baddog.com), July 29, 1999.

Maybe so cujo, but I think it's still a good point. Three days doesn't cut it!

You never know who's lurking out there.

Sure, I've got a place for humor, but old timers and Y2K just ain't funny in my book... <:)=

-- Sysman (y2kboard@yahoo.com), July 29, 1999.

Sysman,

So true. The "old timers" are, in many ways, likely to be the most severely impacted group. My concern for the old timers and young timers is what makes my blood boil when I read someone discouraging adequate preparation by direct comment or inference.

I still think the post by "oldperson" was very funny.

-- (cujo@baddog.byte), July 29, 1999.

When Andy Ray posts a series of negative associations in the form of baiting questions intended to smear anyone who considers Y2k a plausible threat, he is conducting "science".

DELETE all these threads.
