It is not just computers that are at the mercy of the millennium bug Don't think that the millennium bug can only be caught by machines. For those of a less stable nature may also catch it, according to the NHS, which has warned medical staff working in the vicinty of the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, to be on the alert for "end of the century psychosis". Apparently the syndrome has already manifested itself in the shape of one disturbed patient who believes he has swallowed the millennium bug. But don't be too alarmed - he plans to keep the bug in his body until next year, even though he thinks it might kill him. Oxleas NHS Trust, the mental health service provider in south-east London, has dealt with eight millennium bug related admissions since March.

I wonder how may of them were Yourdonites?

Moderators: please figure out and install a filter to prevent wastes of electrons like Pro from wasting GI time. Diane, you were here and this didn't get deleted? Why in the world not?

Welcome back won't you, Mr.Cut and Paste.

Have to agree with MinnesotaSmith on this one, Diane...

God you people are pathetic. You accuse people of being too quick on the SUBMIT button but when it comes to things you just plain "don't like" you all jump on the DELETE bandwagon. (It IS related to Y2K, it doesn't have any profanity, and it doesn't resort to personal attacks, unless you can consider the hypothetical question that Y2KPro added an "attack") You might want to ask yourselves why your so appalled at people coming here presenting ideas that differ from your own. I think it's just plain biased. Although it can be expected from a place like this (notice I didn't say Doom Cult) it's totally uncalled for.

-- (doomers@suck.com), July 22, 1999.

I should have said, totally uncalled for on a public forum". I wonder about that though. Is it a public forum or just a private group who allows (but does not tolerate) drifters.

To Doomers@sucks and y2kpro:

You need to say this little prayer every day:

Lord, keep me from the habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.

Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs.

Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken.

Well Nadine I guess you won't mind then when your thoughts get deleted with the rest of this thread?

But before the Sysops get rid of this thread I'd like to know why you think this topic is so far off that you need to bash it like you do? Is it your thinking that Millennial Madness is purely a hoax? I see some real issues with the whole turn of the millenium thought processes that go in people's heads these days.

Or have you forgotten about that group out of Denver who were in Isreal waiting for 1/1/00 to start a Holy War in the name of Christ? If you ask me Millennial Madness is real and does pertain to Y2K in a big way.

Who am I and why am I here?

-- (doomers@suck.com), July 22, 1999.

Doomer.suck

That's my question too. Sometimes your posts are so abusive and cynical and judgemental and, yes, childish rantings.

Other times, though, your entire command of the english language seems to change, and you display some intelligence in your replies and you actually have a point to make that I find myself thinking about.

Please answer your own questions, for me at least. You seem to have an agenda that goes further than laughing at us all for our 'stupidity'.

-- Family Guy (family@guy.com), July 22, 1999.

Well Family guy,

I thought about writing a short thread called "the evolution of a troll" which would have been about why I think the way I do and how i came to think that way. But I guess it would go over about as good as a stone boat. Nobody here is interested in knowing about why I think the way I do. They'd pick apart my post and flame me to death. Sort of settling the score I guess.

I don't really have much of a methogology to my posts other than to get a rise in some hardcore Doomers. In a certain perspective you can judge their motivations but how quick they are to DELETE me and rush me off this forum. Mostly what I say isn't foul mouthed or childish. Some it is totally not PC and maybe even some of it is borderline malicious but all in all I use words well enough to get a rise in people just with a little creative license and the general feeling of paranoia around here. That paranoia is what really ticks me off and I feel compelled to shoot the Doomers down whenever I get the chance. That's about it, no noble cause, no heroic legacies. Just plain old everyday paranoia/doomer bashing. Someone has to do it because God only knows what damage it could do if left unchecked.

-- (doomers@suck.com), July 22, 1999.

It's only paranoia to people with negligible knowledge of history.

P.S. Most of what I "cut and paste" on this forum I originally wrote for my website. (I am the author of the majority of what I post). Often, I post it here before it ever makes it onto my site.

"God only knows what damage it could do if left unchecked."

Do tell us all, doomersuck, please. You have basicly described us as being a lunatic fringe. Just how powerful do you believe us to be? We've ALL admitted tremendous defeat in our valiant attempts to reach others. Staggering defeat as a matter of fact. What exactly ARE you fearful OF? I thought WE were the ones who are paronoid, terrified, paniced, and trembeling in our shoes, with our tin-foil hats and bags of rice. Are you now suggesting that YOU are fearful? Of US? WHY?

-- Will continue (farming@home.com), July 23, 1999.

Mr. Doomers suck (everyone but me) and Mr. Y2K Pro (phylactic)

You guys need to get laid. You know it. We all know it. It's embarrassing.

Please act to remedy this situation, and keep us posted.

Actually, yes, I was in London.

Prairie Dog- did you miss me? :)

Please - get a life :)
