Paging Martha Stewart - K-Mart System Down

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Dateline Central FL: Just returned from K-mart (3:15pm) where the "new system has been down since this morning" and the folks in the checkout lines are almost as cranky as the employees. MAJOR delays and any purchase using a check or credit card. I have no clue if this is related to the dreaded three day snow storm that has been forecasted. I DO KNOW, however, that both employees and customers were hot, bothered, irritated and loud. One employee was complaining out loud that she had not taken a break since 7:30am. What would these people be acting like if the shelves were empty and the power was off (it's about 92 degrees this afternoon)? Glad I started preppin in December - it's likely to get more than entertaining this fall. Draw your own conclusions (Poole, don't forget to sharpen your crayons!).

wasn't K-mart advertising itself as "your Y2K supply store?"

I was in K-mart the other day, they had hundreds of cast iron Dutch Ovens, oil lamps, camping stoves, etc.

I may be wrong, but I think a buyer for K-Mart lurks on this forum.

It was due to the blizzard. Tampa got over 8 inches last night, and Orlando was hammered by squalls.

Checks and credit card verification problems? What's the alternative? Cash! Withdraw and stash cash early and often. (And convert a lot of it to REAL stuff).

Remember, the banking system has only enough cash relative to checking and regular savings accounts to cover only the first two people in a line of 100. (3+ and you'r S.O.L.)

What's up with this backwards spelling?!? I usually just lurk and try to avoid the whole insulting polly/doomer debate, but Y2K Pro has really gone off the deep end this time! Whopper or Jr. Whopper - does it make any sense?? It's totally wacked - not even trying to intentionally disrupt or mislead like a troll - aw forget it - what a waste!

Writing backwards? Where? All I saw was something that was easier to read than normal (with my Dylexia).

And me wrong? I said perhaps.. but not likely
