Trolls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It has become apparent to me that we have a group of trolls attempting to disrupt and discourage this forum. It is my hope that those of us who rely on the forum for help and support will continue posting their perspectives and information despite their efforts.

IMHO, please make no reply at all to trolls. Silence is the best response. Eventually, because they can't hook anyone into their game, they will get discouraged by their inability to get a response and they will leave.

I quickly skip over troll posts. The forum is invaluable and lets work together to not feed the trolls, please.

Leslie,

It's just weekend madness. This happens every weekend, some are worse than others. Frankly, it seems to be worse when the weather is nice, as the "normal people" with lives are out and about doing stuff, and it's mainly the whackos and a few of us stuck at work who are on the web. Don't worry, things will most likely be a little better tomorrow.

Leslie,

The trolls have been here for many months. Ignoring them doesn't make them go away. Engaging them doesn't make them go away. Deleting them doesn't make them go away. Just have to consider them part of the scenery...like those annoying banner ads on most websites...or television commercials. You have my deepest sympathy, and please don't let them chase you off.

Talkin' of preps, what you got "holed" away to barter with, babe?

Just wonderin'!!

IMHO, the best barter items are TP and tuna. Have enough to share.

KNOWN regulars do have the option of invoking the delete vote.

From the posting guidelines...

Once 3-5 regular posters request DELETE--pointless threads may be removed

Any votes? Or do you want to put up with this stuff still?

(Doesn't mean they'll depart though).

Started out good...still think the moderators should burn the shorts of the trolls with private email.

"...burn the shorts of the trolls with private email."

This is an incitement to a pissing contest. NOT a good idea. Think again.

Schools out and the weekends are always the worst. Yes, they've always been here but by not answering, it saves bandwidth or whatever, and it becomes very boring to them not to be read or answered.
