Calm down. Alexander Cockburn (Counterpunch) is an old leftist who spends most of his time skewering liberals for not being left wing enough. He is deliberatively provocative, and some of the time he is actually right. He evidently decided to trash McCain because McCain was appealing to some fair-minded persons with his stand on campaign finance. In some circles, being savaged by Cockburn would be considered a badge of honor.

I think of Counterpunch as the leftwing Drudge Report.
