Brite-Lyt

Recently, I ordered Three of these lanterns from brite-lyt. For the past two weeks , since I have received them i have been burning them out in the back yard in the evening to familiarize myself with their opertion and capabilities.

One word....Astonishing.

A coleman lantern is, by comparison, an LED crystal.

If you can afford to get one, check out their web site to see the details. I bought mine on their 'buy all three parts deal' for about $140 each, the lantern, reflector and case. I also bought two extra globes for each lantern and a dozens extra mantles for each, they were very inexpensive. Total cost for all three plus extra about $479.00

I am not a shill or paid for this comment or remunerated in any way. I am just a satisfied customer wanting to give you a heads-up.

I fully agree!!

Their lanterns are awesome. And Diane is really nice to deal with.

I like the way that this lantern was developed to burn all types of liquid fuels. Run out of one kind, substitute another.

I got one a few months ago. sounds like you are having a lot better luck with yours than I am with mine. still cant pump it up, not even a little bit. when it first arrived, I got it to fire a few times, with a lot of effort. now, I cant make it work at all. it makes a nice paperweight, tho.

Hey Paul,

Been there, done that-a few months ago. I also got a couple of the stoves before they ran out. Great stuff! Don't forget to get a repair kit or two.

Hey Ed,

Diane has an attachment that allows you to use a bicycle pump to supply the pressure. I haven't tried it as yet (I got my lanterns to pump up as soon as I flogged the leather pump gasket enough to seal).

how do you 'flog' the leather gasket?

-- ed (edrider007@aol.com), July 05, 1999.

ed,

Tie it to the main mast, tear off it's shirt, dip cat-o-nine tails in sea water and let'er rip. Twenty lashes should do the trick

I bought 2 from Highland traders a few months ago. bought the "kit" lantern , reflector , case. and a couple dozen extra mantles. got the lanterns after a few months. still haven't received the cases, reflectors, extra mantles. gonna be here " real soon ". wish I had ordered them from Cabela's, or Petromax. [ haven't tried them yet tho. was waiting in case I had to return them and get a refund if the other stuff wasn't going to come until doomsday. ]

I used to have a bicycle pump with a leather ring on the pump push rod. Pull up, air went around the leather, push down, the leather would push against the side of the pump cylinder and shove the air out as you pushed the handle down. Once in a while, the leather would turn inside out, and push air in the wrong direction, which required taking the pump apart and reseating the leather correctly. Could this be a similar problem?

yes, I oiled the gasket. I have used household oil, and then, motor oil. the brytelite tech. told me to soak it in lamp oil. still wont pump.
