I thought I could get some advice here...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This place sucks. I thought I would learn stuff about what to do for y2k, and all i read is a bunch of arguing. Does anyone ever talk about food and water and heat? Sheesh.

David, I am delighted to say that a Preparation forum will debut shortly. Perhaps people are holding off on their prep information so as to post on the new forum.

By the way, if you look in the archives under "Food" and "Utilities" you may find exactly what you're looking for. Otherwise, feel free to post your questions and we'll do our very best to help you.

Brian, would you post your blued index links for our new friend?

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), July 05, 1999.

Well most of us have food, water and firewood. But if you want to learn fast! Turn off the power and go from there, you'll catch up real fast :o) Have a great day.

Maroon, there is plenty of advice and good threads, even sorted by topic in the archives. You can get advice here, but you are obviously a troll. Send me a picture of your girlfriend, and I'll consider talking about trading you a y2k potato for her.

davey,

you can't be serious. you are a big silly if i ever saw one. this is a site that is dedicated to salvation and if you haven't any interest in being saved than you better get out while the gettin' is good.

Piggy, have you lost your mind. You're going to have a TBY2K prep forum. Let me 'splain somthin'. You're boring, your links are boring. You're going to get like 4 f'n hits man. This forum rocks because of all the clueless crazies in one place. No one argues Y2K much anymore. Thank God. Everyone is just here for the food fight. Squire, admit you're hoping for a 8 or a 9 so you can lose some weight. Hmmm, doughnuts.

BTW Dave if you want to troll these waters you'll have to do better than that. Lisa could you email Dave privately?

zoobie, maroon is a color, macaroon is a cookie, I think you mean another kind or roon. I can't remember the beginning but Stern uses it a lot. Hope this helps

Really? Every time I've seen it used on the internet, it was used like "dummy". A tongue-in- cheek way of saying moron, without being that mean. Sort of like insulting a friend without being taken seriously.... Can anyone else help confirm this? Have I just been an unintentional racist, or is this just an internet smiley insult?

We're almost chatting in real time. Cool. This happens on the New York Times forum all the time when there is a world crises. Never thought it would happen in this dump though. You there Squire? Let's see how fast you can bring the party to a screeching halt

Jeez ! And all this time I thought my maroon drapes were red. Must be colorblind. Why hasn't anybody told me they were really black and white?

-- sue (deco100@aol.com), July 05, 1999.

zoobie

as corrinne 1 put so well, bugs bunny is the only place i've heard maroon used as anything but a deep red color, as in "what a maroon!!" usually referring to either elmer fudd or yosemite sam.

i had no idea it designated lineage. it probably won't change my usage.

Try this url: http://members.aol.com/keninga/index.htm

There is some really good information there.

Don't give up too soon. The site here has been dealing with a school of trolls, but things will get better.

cheers,
