DMX Arrested on Gun Charges

Who knows, maybe DMX was just prepping for the Y2K bug?

That would explain why the chart-topping hip-hopper was making like a one-man militia, keeping all sorts of banned weaponry--a Tec-9 pistol, hollow-point bullets, 14 angry pit bulls--at his Teaneck, New Jersey, home.

Whatever the reason for the armaments, the rapper (real name: Earl Simmons) was busted yesterday by local police on illegal gun possession charges.

The cops entered DMX's armory-cum-homestead on a warrant stemming from the shooting of his uncle/manager, Ray Copeland, who was wounded in the foot over the weekend at a nearby hotel.

Although the authorities aren't saying whether DMX, 28, is a suspect in the Copeland incident, the police had plenty of other reasons to arrest the rapper, among them: the outlawed Tec-9 semiautomatic pistol, the hollow-points (known as "cop killers"), a banned large-capacity gun clip and a bulletproof vest. Police say the pit bulls were being kept in violation of local laws; the pooches were turned over to the ASPCA.

DMX was released after posting $50,000 bail. His wife, Tashera, was also charged and released on $2,500 bail.

The rapper's rap sheet has been growing as fast as his heady career.

His first two albums,It's Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh--Blood of My Blood, both debuted at No. 1 on the pop charts last year, an unprecedented feat for a hip-hop artist. He's been making the rounds on the popular "Hard Knock Life Tour" with Jay-Z, Method Man and Redman, and is due to appear at Woodstock '99 later this month. His next album, due out by Christmas, should be an instant bestseller.

But Wednesday's arrest is the fourth in the same two-year span. In May, he was nabbed in New York on assault charges after alleging beating a motorist.

That same month, he was also wanted in connection to a post-concert stabbing in Denver, but authorities dropped the charges, citing a lack of evidence.

It wasn't the first time DMX was wrongfully fingered for a crime. In June of last year, he was arrested and accused of raping a topless dancer, but was eventually cleared by a DNA test.

Hope we don't have a Sistas like you ): Who gives a shit about a rapper? What does this have to do with y2k? If I'm mistaken I'm sorry.

It will be nice when we get to a "preparations only please" forum. This is a great example of the kind of useless junk that gets posted, causing valuable preparation threads to go off into the archives.

DMX obviously isn't a GI or Doomer, if he was he would be cutting tracks like "Build yourself a stash", "Time to leave the hoods for the woods" and "Learn to be a farmer". And of course he could re- release the gangster-rap classic "Cop Killer" as a renamed version called "Jack-booted ferderal thug killer".

I do not know what sort of person enters a serious website like this and calls oneself "sista" and then fills it with such garbage as this, and the other rantings put on in the past couple of days by this apparently disturbed person. But I do know that I enter this website regularly in order to learn all that I possibly can about how to continue to best prepare for Y2K, and that time is short for all of us in which to do so. If "sista" isn't really interested in contributing to that end, then I would urgently request that this person refrain from cluttering up what is already an enormous amount of really important material to cover. Said less nicely, get lost!
