It is 46 states. FY 2000 starts today for them. FY2000 starts in October for Federal Govt.

If no major problems show up within two weeks, you probably won't hear of any - anything that takes that long to show up most likely can be handled 'in house' without shutting anything down for an unusual period.

Right Taz, you know, like the way Honolulu has been operating their license renewal, MANUALLY since JANUARY. Or many other well hidden, long duration disasters in other government settings. Missippi and Kansas taxation, Denver and Jersey's welfare, Canadian property tax, Texas child support........

I disagree. MOST forecasting software is run at month-end. So I wouldn't even really expect to hear anything until around August 1st. (That is, *IF* we're ALLOWED to hear anything...)

Honolulu has a glitch that's been going on for six months...

Yes, but unless they are total twits the testers will be running consistency checks on the data every night and weekend. I would.

And I qualified my statement by saying 'shutting down for an unusual period'. Since I have seen finance and accounting systems go down for periods up to 3 days, and not regarded it as unusual, I guess a 3 day shutdown plus a weekend (5 days total) would have to be my limit on not unusual shutdown time. Over 3 working days down on a major system is an awful long time.

I see your point Paul. I've also been in offices FULL of 'total twits'. As a matter of fact some of the biggest 'twits' I've met have been Engineers.
