And this, after I was kind enough to let him put his campaign poster on my lawn...

I work for a midwestern agricultural mfg. where about 10% of our parts are from overseas suppliers. Knowing that a work stoppage due to lack of production parts will force layoffs, I wrote my state senator and asked him if our legislature had enacted any laws to protect homeowners against foreclosure due to y2k-caused disruptions.

Here is his response:

"The issue was discussed when we passed our comprehensive Y2K bill, however the consensus was that this would not pose much of a problem for homeowners. The financial institutions said they had no intention of exploiting homeowners for a computer error on their part. They also indicated that foreclosing on property takes an extended period of time and if somehow payment wasn't received, a property owner would have copies of his payments, bank records, and could prove his or her track record."

Of course, BIG BUSINESS will have all the legal liability protection their "personally paid for" gov't rep can provide!

Let's fire up the Nuremburg trials again..... There are certainly "crimes against humanity" being perpetrated here...

FWIW politicans do not respond to ideas, they respond to power. The only way that your suggestion will ever be worked on is if the constituency is about to lynch the politians. At this point industry/commercial interests are the only ones who are lobbying various legislatures with enough force to get their attention. So laws will be passed which speak to their interests. Until the public at large is beating down the doors they will ignore any 'ideas'.

Say Dan, you work for an Ag company in the Midwest? Move two threads up and read what your President thinks of folks like us....and then, get your gun and follow the pack. I want that shrimp on a barbie. Don't waste your time looking for any help from our government. Your on your own, sucker. How much more does this creep expect this country to stand for? Who has charcoal?
