Real research on hobo stoves

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I wish all my Yourdonite friends could have seen me and hubby last week. You would still be rolling on the floor with laughter a week later. Picture this: Its 90 degrees and I am sitting on the back porch in my underware, sans bra, with fat belly hanging out... and pot bellied and bald hubby is sitting there in his jockey shorts with a cold beer. He decides that we need to test the hobo stoves I have been making in the solar oven. So nothing to do but set one on the floor between us and light one. Well, that worked fine so now we have to "cook" something. Since chubby hubby was already on his 6th beer, I suggested a pot of coffee. Well....the coffee boiled in about the same time it would take on the stove. Then I put the fire out and to my amazement, it had used very little of stove contents. So Hobo stoves are a success, hubby chose beer over coffee and I went inside with the airconditioning and had a bowl of ice cream. So goes the high tech, highly scientific and now documented y2k trials at our house.

Thanks Taz. You certainly paint a lovely picture! :-D

I seem to have misplaced any & all links to Hobo stoves. Care to share?
