I have designed a cheap portable solar oven. If you would care to see what I've come up with, Email me. NOoo charge,as always, for the plan.

Respectfully:

PS Also have plans for dehydrator solar/non, outside firebox - transfers heat indoors w/12v fan, and working on some others.

These babies really do work. I'd like to design a really really big one that could somehow be placed over a hot tub/jacuzzi. Would be nice to come home to - free hot water.

Ray... YOU DA MAN!!! Great site. I'm using the parabolic style. The neat thing is, its portable and I am not bound by size because all I have to do is add some more pvc pipe to the support rings and some more mirror mylar and ... Hmmmm...... melt metal huh ...Hmmmmmm Let me get back to ya. Hmmmmmmmohyea

I have a commercial model (solarchef) and I've baked bread in it as well as a roasted turkey breast. Works great.

Michael, glad you found a good plan. We are fortunate to live in the sunny southwest where these things really get toasty.

For those not familiar with these magical devices there is a book out entitled "Heaven's Flame" by Joseph Radabaugh that provides a great introduction to Solar Cookers.

Flame Away; Would you have an AC/HEAT contractor in your area ? If you do go to them and ask for some of the air duct material they use for the trunk line. ( I'm giving you their terminlogy ) If you get a few sheets of it. Just design your own size box,EXCEPT TURN THE MATERIAL INSIDE OUT. So the foil is on the inside. I built one for almost zero, I did have to buy some foil tape (3.95) My solar oven gets up to 200 degrees in 20 minutes. Walmart has oven temp gauges in the kitchen utensil area $2.68. Sure hope this will help you out. Hey MikeyMac keep it going guy !!! :) :)
