No! Don't delete. Everybody should soberly address the possible futility of all our efforts and come to terms with this on a spiritual/philosophical level.

al-d's answer is as good as any. Works for him. With minor variations here and there, it works for me, too.

If you're not into a discussion about coping with y2k in terms of its ultimate meaning for your life, this isn't the thread for you. But I believe we have both the space and the need here for the topic.

How are YOU dealing with the possibility of severe and enduring disruption of your formerly comfortable life? With the possibility of massive loss of life worldwide? With the fact that "local" might be exactly where you're currently sitting?

I think what Al-d meant is that you can't hurt the feelings of a brain-dead man.

Any anyhow, how does this help anyone with their preparations...?

If there was one thing I've always hated about hard core God people it's their uncanny ability to care nothing about what is happening now in lieu of some promise of everlasting life in Heaven later. But like I said before, if going to heaven means I have to spend eternity with some of you people then I think I'll kindly ask God to set me up with a ticket to Hell.

The prepared and the unprepared will both have the same death rate - one death per person.

I'm not preparing to live forever, I'm preparing so I don't have to suffer too much in the meantime.

Hey, uh, "Happy?" why hate?

I think al-d just wants to illustrate that there is a larger picture as well. Zoom-in, zoom-out type function while trying to get the lay of the land. Some people post humor on this forum, what's the purpose of that??? Same thing. Thanks for the pause,al-d.

yup, the pause that refreshes.i,m a 60 year old-kid. i enjoy life i love GODs creation' peace && joy=in the NOW-kingdom.whatever will-be--will be. contrary to some opinions GOD is still running the show. i don,t know what to-morrow-holds--but i know who holds to-morrow.every time i see a flower'a tree' a puppy[got-a-few] i say my,my, ain,t you somethin dear-lord.

Hey,al-d,Best wishes to you and yours! Barb

I appreciate your thoughts, a-al, I have preped as much as I can, and because my quality of life is fragile without Y2k, I find it important to recognize God's miracle of life happening all around me. And whereever God is, there are miracles, Y2K or no, suffering or no, bump in the road or the end of the road.
