Spring (?) Break...

Well, I'm a Systems Programmer (that's MM, Linda) and Network Administrator. At least that's what my business cards say. My 31 years in this wild and wonderful world of computers says, guess what...

What the hell am I doing here, on this wacky forum, being invaded by polly-trolls that don't have a F---ing (that's Fliping) clue about what's happenin' in this world today, let alone tomorrow.

ENOUGH I SAY

I'm outta here. I need a break! It's almost summer, and I've got 13 vacation days left!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to find a boat... Don't worry, I'll be back... <:)=

PS - Keep the Poolly (not a typo) trolls in check for a few days, will ya...

Sysman... Get your vacation now, while you still can! I've been in IT as long as you, and can feel your pain...or at least also need the time off. The boat sounds like a great idea!

Sysman...being on a boat right now somewhere in deep water doesn't sound like a bad place to be at all! The world is going mad. Take a few days off and it might not be here when you get back : )

.. ah, the witless monosyllabic Sissyman takes a break from the tortuous task of yelling, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" over and over and....

"On January 1, 1999 they will experience many more, and it will be much more difficult to sweep them under the rug. On April 1, 1999 we will all watch anxiously as the governments of Japan and Canada, as well as the state of New York, begin their 1999-2000 fiscal year; at that moment, the speculation about Y2K will end, and we will have tangible evidence of whether governmental computer systems work or not."-- Ed Yourdon

"So, of course I want to see y2k bring down the system, all over the world. I have hoped for this all of my adult life." -- Gary North

sysman, take your break. as for me, this weekend, my hubby and i are helping the elkhart pc users group host a free y2k computer clinic for home users. we will check the computers for free, and if they need a hardware fix, they can buy the software. but the software is now in short supply and has been back ordered several times. prices went up last week. we are doing this clinic at holy cross college in south bend, indiana. maybe i should ask them to pray that the software comes in on time.

Y2KProll,

What will happen in New York when it begins to process its FY2000 budget still remains to be seen. New York is in the fifteenth month of its FY1999 budget. Actually it's operating under a continuing resolution for FY1999.

As of 15 June the state legislature, state senate and governor still haven't agreed upon the new budget and they don't seem to be in one big heck of a hurry to do so, either. Methinks it may be by design that the usually late NY state budget is extraordinarily late this year.

At least it may be late until it won't matter anymore. By July 1st however, when lots of other states just might be involved in budget fires, New York may pass their budget and crash then. Then they won't stand out from the crowd, they'll be part of it. Or they may have an excuse to stay in FY1999 forever or until everything crashes, whichever comes first.
