Disaster Prep 101

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I know this is probably not the proper forum but those who are GI will be most likely to help me here, since this is the only board I come to nowadays...everything in moderation!!

I am storing Goya yellow rice mixes and Goya canned products (beans, peas) anyone know how long this stuff lasts canned and packaged?

Also, Carolina Converted Rice (20 lbs.) in the thick plastic..how long? Thanks. I know there is a site on shelf life but forgot where.

Nsmith- Hope this helps. I really liked it when I was looking at long term storage prep. If you have access to anyone who uses a wholesale grocery supplier like United Grocers etc. you may be able to tag along and find some great bargains.

Side note- At work the other day, a fellow commented he was ready for Y2K, I replied that was great, "Yea, I got a gun and you 've got supplies. That's all the prep I need." he said. I won't be making the mistake of offering validation for others prep using my own supplies as a marker! I thought he was OK too. (Sigh) You can't kid about a thing like this! Good luck.
