Since its debut in February 1998, Solar has continually strived to provide an innovative night in electronic music through their weekly Wednesday night event, Solar. In accordance with this objective, we are proud to welcome Detroit's own Stacey Pullen as Solar's new monthly resident.

Over the past year Solar, located west of Detroit in Ann Arbor, MI, has showcased some of the world's most celebrated DJ's. International DJ's making their Detroit debuts at Solar include Aphrodite, Mix Master Morris, Amon Tobin, and Huggy (20/20 Vision UK). In February 1999, Solar celebrated its one-year anniversary with a special tag team performance featuring Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. While regularly presenting such renowned talents, Solar functions to demonstrate the diversity of electronic music, including those artists just gaining recognition. This unique combination has proven successful, and allows Solar to continually offer what they initially set out to provide an innovative night in electronic music.

The career of Stacey Pullen demonstrates a common interest in promoting the evolution of this musical genre. Inspired by the revolutionary sounds emanating from Detroit's legendary Music Institute club, Stacey began his DJ'ing career in the mid-80's. For a brief period he moved the masses at underground parties and local venues before leaving the scene for three years to pursue a college degree. Realizing his dedication to the movement, Stacey resumed his role in the Detroit music community, and since that time has become increasingly successful in his art. As a producer he has gained recognition under various pseudonyms, including Kosmic Messenger, Bango, and Silent Phase, and his debut full-length (1995), The Theory of Silent Phase, released on Derrick May's Transmat label, received much praise. Over the years his talents have also been tapped by KMS records, Eclipse Records, BMG/Ariola, Buzz, PIAS/Belgium, R&S, Warner, andVirgin. One of his latest projects is compiling work for his upcoming 1999 release on the Science/Astralwerks label. Not to be overshadowed by his skills as a producer, Stacey's talents as a DJ has also been enjoyed at parties and clubs literally around the world.

Solar is proud to welcome Stacey Pullen as its new monthly resident, and looks forward to his contribution to our ongoing efforts to celebrate and encourage the progression of electronic music.
