To Run The Train

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poetry : One Thread

This poem is a bit of foolishness, but I saw it many years ago, and have looked for it for quite a while.

It's not my job to run the train, The whistle I can't blow ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

This poem is about having total responsibility without any authority. I am sure many people can relate to the message.

Does anyone know the poem?

I dont know the author, though . MY JOB

Its not my job to run this train;

The whistle I cant blow.

Its not my place to say how far

The trains allowed to go.

Its not my job to shoot off steam

Nor even clang the bell.

But let the damn thing

Jump the track . . .

and see who catches Hell!
