LINKS: Know Your GAO General Accounting Office -- Reports and Testimony ( Y2K )

Most of us are trying to locate current issue Y2K reports digitally published by our government. A key source is the United States GAO General Accounting Office.

About The GAO

The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) is the investigative arm of Congress. Charged with examining matters relating to the receipt and disbursement of public funds, the GAO is a nonpartisan agency within the legislative branch of government.

GAO conducts audits, surveys, investigations, and evaluations of federal programs and activities. This work is done at the request of congressional committees or members, or to fulfill GAO specifically mandated or basic legislative requirements. GAO's findings and recommendations are published as reports to congressional members or delivered as testimony to congressional committees.

[Problem is, they seem rather slow in getting those reports online].

Each day, the GAO lists the most recent reports that are going to be released, or just have been through the GAO Daybook ...

You can get the most recent offerings in three main ways:

(If up, these reports are available in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) or as ASCII text files).

THE FASTEST WAY TO RECEIVE GAO ALERTS IS ...

GAO's Daybook via Mailing List

A great way to hear about what is going to be issued or is just linked up is to receive e-mail alerts from the GAO Daybook.

GAO now has a mailing list service for a daily electronic posting of the GAO Daybook. It is a distribution-only list. Subscribers automatically receive two e-mail messages each business day. The GAO Daybook is released at approximately 5:00 pm EST; the following day, at approximately 9:00 am EST, a message is posted announcing the availability of electronic files of released reports.

Giving away some of your secrets, huh Diane? LOL.

I may have missed it - can you tell me if that 161 page Senate report that was due out mid-week has been released, or do we still have just the Washington Post story? So many threads, so little time.

p.s. nice formatting. :)
