DC260, WIN98 and USB

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The Kodak forum has been a buz with DC260 owners unable to connect their cameras to their Windows 98 USB ports. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks very much.

I can't speak for others, but we had great success with the USB connection. - Very much faster than serial! One *important* caveat though, it will ONLY work in ONE of the USB ports on the computer. For some reason, it MUST be in Port Zero, which apparently means it won't work if you're trying to daisy-chain it with some other peripheral, like a hub, or those monitors that have hubs built-in to them.

I had no trouble using my DC260 with USB under Win98. I'm not using any hubs, just the supplied Kodak USB cable. Performance is extremely fast! Using USB with this camera, I see no need to buy a memory card reader.

I just purchased this camera from a private party and am having a heck of a time trying to get USB to work. Seems like it will connect intermittantly and then lose the connection. If anyone has run into any good resources to help figure out the problems, I'd love to hear about them....thanks.
