G3 B&W and DV

I just got my new G3 B&W /300 , and im trying to connect a Sony DCR-VX1000e camera by firewire .I just downlaoded a demoversion of editDV to check out the possibilities , but i won't get any image on my screen , Can't crab any image .Do i need software from the sony ? I also read abouy two extensions , i don't have , DV enabler & DV support , is this the problem? If yes , where can i get them ? Many thanks for anyone who has any advice.
