This is a forum about the history of cattle raising in Florida. It will be monitored by Joe Akerman, author of The Florida Cowman A History of Florida Cattle Raising. And maintained by Brad Hutcheson.

Professor Akerman has taught American history since 1965, mostly in Florida where he has specialized in Florida history. He has had two books, and numerous articles published about the Florida cattle industry, and its early pioneers. The Florida Cowman is in its fourth edition, and eighth printing.
