Response to Windows XP and MAME

Mame works perfectly on my ME operating system. As far as XP, the (.exe) file refuses to execute The dos interface pops up and as soon as it comes on it cuts off. The last thing i want to see is any form of dos. After i downloaded mame32 0.57 to XP, i tried to execute it twice, and failed. Please give e some advise that would at least get me to the graphical user interface please!!!!!!
