anyway, the SF hacks don't have a "proper control advantage" like you stated. You're getting confused with the bowling games, which were intended for play with a trackball, but with a keyboard and knowledge of the "sweet spot" a perfect 300 is possible for anyone who plays. The SF2 CE hacks came out in arcades with joysticks, and anyone can play with joystick or keyboard at home. There's no advantage there.
The SF games don't have a theoretical maximum score. While it may be lame to just throw 50 slow Sonic Booms in a row, it does require a little more skill than the bowling games. Plus, the "technique" can always be improved. Or maybe there's another character that can finish opponents off quicker and get better time bonuses. And I don't see why being able to change characters in mid-game is soooo lame to you?
Just because you hate the hacks doesn't mean they should be banned. As Barry said, if you think it's too easy, step up and take those 1st's.
