Response to Speed Rumbler Leeching Vote

from Pat (laffaye@mail.com)
It is possible that both of these leeching techniques could become general rules at MARP. Be aware that for tournaments, these are strictly enforced!! More specifically, a player must make every attempt to proceed through the game (i.e. no hanging around) and furthermore no deliberate attempts of repeating levels. In prior tournaments, I have repeatedly seen both and the INPs were immediately DQ'ed. Kung Fu Master is a great example where both tecniques are possible within the game. (#1) Level 1--slowly karate your way to almost the end but avoid the "boss", purposely dying before advancing to level 2. In effect you're repeating Level 1. (#2) At the beginning of level 2 you can hang around in one area and rack up huge bonuses by waiting for objects/enemies to appear and refusing to move forward.

The main reason why it is difficult to enforce these rules at regular MARP is because confirmers are only checking for proper playback to the claimed score--they are not looking for points leeching.
