Response to dog ear infection

Our ol'lady lab has (and has had) the same smelly, nasty , black-gunk producing ear infection. The vet here tried a myriad of topical and pill-type remedies. Nothing was seeming to work. At this last visit, he gave my husband the latest bottle of meds (tresiderm -sp???). We also started her on 1/4 cup of yogurt mixed in with her food. He cleans out her ears frequently, and he says there is some improvement. I think it's the yogurt. She gets some about every other day. Good luck and keep trying - something's bound to work.
