Response to worms

from Elizabeth Petofi (tengri@cstone.net)
I once read a really funny article by Dave Barry on Canadian Giant Worms and the next day when I walked into a country store which sold fishing bait, I was surprised to see a big sign, advertising that they were selling these worms. They had them in the refrigerator. I looked in the package and they were enormous and moving very slowly, so I bought a container full of them. I released them in my compost heap and they did well there, also spread throughout my garden, giving me a real thrill from time to time when I thought I saw a snake, eeeekkk!

I don't know if these worms can be bought from a worm grower or if they are simply "wild worms" but ask your local bait sellers if they have them and if, so, you could try them. They are not really a compost worm. Maybe they are really big night crawlers? Anyway, worth a try if you want big worms because that's what they are!
