sound recording with vx1000e

Please be patient I am a bit of an amateur, I have a vx1000e and have to record a show at a theatre, how do I go about connecting a line direct from a sound desk into the camera, there is no reference to direct sound in the book, where do I plug in the lead and what do I ask the soundman for regarding the type of signal.
