free trade and unemployment

Hello, I am doing a paper on how free trade in the US causes manufacturering unemployment to increase. I'm looking at around 1970 - 2000. I have looked at the census bureaus and recieved some info. Mainly i have noticed that the US started importing more than exporting around the mid 70's. If you know where I could find more data I would appreciate it very much. Thank you - Aaron
