Cannon hi 8 XL2 How does this hold up against DV

Hi, I have an older XL2 that hasn't been used in years and I can't find the manual. Does anyone know if it has a built in stabilizer? How does it hold up against DV if it is dumped directly into an avid adrenaline for post? Does anyone know where to get tapes and batteries? Thanks for the help. Scott
