PS - Alex, Just wondered if you have seen some of the appalling advice given by Solicitors and CAB agents re shortfall debt in some stories on this site? Some people find themselves admitting liability due to the incompetence of solicitors with no working knowledge of shortfall claims.(posted 7652 days ago)This is particularly true in the case of interest liability with which the Court Of Appeal case ruling dictates that the claimant only has 6 years to claim interest on a shortfall debt. So many solicitors just say "well its your debt so pay it all" without challenge. I have first hand experience of this appalling attitude.
My advice also is do not under any circurmstances give solicitors carte blanche to do what they like on your behalf, always review what they are doing before they do it. I would also suggest using a solicitor that has working knowledge of such claims.
