analog pass through firewire

I used to borow for editing with my Pyro card the DSR11P recorder Everything was OK, but not cheap I want to buy a trv25e camera. Please let me know if this device does on the fly transcoding from analog inputs to firewire output to capture on my computer, or I need to copy the analog material on Dv tape first and then play-it back Thank you
