Hi,(posted 7812 days ago)If the people that are writing to you are members of the Council of Mortgage Lenders and the first letter was received more than 6 years since your husband took out the mortgage then you can write and ask them to stop bothering you as they are out of time. However if not, write to the people concerned asking for evidence of the debt, state you will only correspond via post and if anyone else, or the same person, turns up at your door refusing to give details state the Harrassment Act as quoted earlier in the Q&A section. Unfortunately these people will not go away just by being ignored, check out the time limit and then follow the advice given in the Repossession Section of this site.
