PC restarting when attempting to capture

from Tim White (thelatelunch@hotmail.com)
G'day film makers,

I'm a school student studying film, I've recently shot my first short film, I'm very excited and I just went and bought myself a firewire card so I can capture my footage and edit with Premiere.

Ok... I install the card into my PC, connected it properly... installed the drivers from the CD. Everything appears to be good... I enter Premiere and go to the Capture Menu, I begin the Capturing process... it shows the image and the sound I want to capture for around one second and then all of a sudden, the screen goes black and the computer restarts. EVERY TIME!!! I have attempted to use different programs to see if it works, I tried MGI Videowave III, it came with my camera, I tried Ulead VideoStudio 6, I even tried Windows Movie Maker. Every time, as soon as i start capturing or playing, the computer restarts. It is really annoying me!!!

If it's any help, I'm using a Sony DCR-TRV30E videocamera, a USB & 1394 Combo Card. I am running Windows XP Professional. I have an AMD Athlon XP. I tried to find some drivers for them all, but I'm not sure if its fixing it.

Anyway... any help would be hugely appreciated. If you fix my problem, I will be forever gracious. If you could email me answers, that would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance, Tim
