Do you need extra power with a shock Mic mounted on a boom pole?

I was wondering if you need extra power when using a shock mic on a boom pole? Or does the power come from the camera's battery( I have a GL1) PLZ hurry I have a shoot in 2 weeks! THANKS!!!!!
