conversion

I used a friend's Sony DV camcorder while on vacation and brought the DV tape back to view on my camcorder. Unfortunately, when I put the tape into my Panasonic camcorder, it came out with an error that said "incompatible data". Is there a setting on the Panasonic PV-DV200D that will allow me to view this tape? Why is it giving me this error? Thank you in advance for your response.
