Loading a 120 film into a ss tank?

I have just started building a darkroom setup. I have all the stuff have learned how to 'walk' a 35mm film onto a patteron super system 4 reel but can not figure out a 120 mm (brand unknown) film onto a stainless steel holder. This is hard to describe but I can slide a 120mm into the outer spiral and walk around till it forms a snail but that seems to leave the clip in the centre of the spiral redundant. Am I doing this right? Thanks for taking the time to respond. Chris
