Avio vs IMAC DV SE

Am looking to purchase basic non linear video editing equipment. Have test driven the Avio DV but have had the suggestion that the IMAC
DV SE would be better. What would be the real difference? Which would be the must cost effective purchase? I like the fact that the Avio DV can input all video formats can the IMAC do the same?
