Abbey National keep tring to evict us even though we are only 1 day late paying

In Aug 00 we were in arrears, since then we have been steadily paying them off, for the last 5 months we have paid £400 pmonth when our installment is £281, this month, we didnt pay until 04.04.02 because of the problem with Barclays we didnt get paid until 2.04.02 and the Bank holiday as well, and we are suposed to pay before the end of the month, we returned home on 04.04.02 and found a notice of eviction. Does anyone know what is the best thing to do? thanks
