Well, you probably have to adjust the contrast of the negative till you get what you are looking for. You won't know this till you make your first contact print.(posted 8103 days ago)I am not so sure if I can answer the second part of your question. That depends on what you do with the negative in Photoshop, and how well you know how to do ink jet prints, and how good your printer is.
If you don't have Dan's book, I would strongly recommend you get it.
