What's a SIG ?

This is my first visit to this site following letters since 1994 from Building Society, Experto Credite, EJ Winter Solicitors and the current one - CURTIS Solicitors. I replied to a letter from Curtis on 28th January. As I did not receive a response I faxed them 3 times asking for confirmation of receipt of my letter, which did not receive a response. I then sent a letter on 7th March, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, requesting confirmation of my letter. It is 20th March and I am still waiting for some sort of response !!! Anyway - could someone please tell me what a "SIG" is? Many thanks
