Exidy Whodunit Answers? Key? Attic? Etc?

Hi All-

I'm getting really good at shooting everything and keeping the game going, but I still haven't even found the key, let alone the entrance to the attic, etc. I figure the key is in the pit (with the spike, spider, etc) in the left wall but I can't get him to walk over there.

Does anyone know where the key is? How about where the attic entrance is (I assume in the library somewhere)? Any other hints/tips would also be appreciated.
