Response to Using a light meter with DV

from Jeff Centauri (zombieninja@yahoo.com)
I shoot a lot in the film format and video as well. I also own a GY- DV500 and recently shot a feature with it. Basically, the light meter is almost defunct. You can use the viewfinder, and even better, a color monitor to see the final result on tape. It speeds up the process of shooting and is more reliable than using the light meter. What you see is what you get. Just make sure that the monitor and viewfinder of the camera is calibrated to proper levels. After that you control your "exposure" with the iris control ring.
