JVC GY-DV500's compatibility / firewire dump to Final Cut Pro

I've been told by a (Sony biased) local camera dealer that the JVC GY-500 might create audio sync problems when I'm capturing video through a firewire to my Final Cut Pro. I have an iMac with 526 ram, 60G hard and 30G firewire external hard. I want to purchase the DV500 because its similar in config. to what we areusing in our local news dept. Has anyone heard of this problem? Thanks, Bob C.
